Ed and Ann
Residents of Bend, Oregon, one of the most beautiful locales on the West Coast, Ann and Ed wake up fiending for great coffee and thinking "What's for dinner tonight?" Both from the East Coast, Ed is from Virginia and Ann is a native of Manhattan. Years ago now, they met when Ann was a frequent customer at Ed's restaurant.
After a career as a software executive, Ed owned and cooked in a fine dining restaurant in Virginia for 15 years, then moved to Oregon to play in the wine business. Now Ed joins Ann in retirement to pursue our passions for hiking, food, wine, and craft beer. Ann worked for a name-brand IT company and retired many years ago, a victim of a layoff.
Our kids are grown now and we are more free than we have been in 30 years to go, to be, to explore, and to flip a coin about which fork in the road we take next. Our parents are no longer with us, reminding us that life is short and that we should enjoy each day.
Forks in our Road
This blog is a journal of our twists and turns as we consider each fork we encounter, be it literal or metaphorical. We started it more than a decade ago to document our food and beverage adventures. The blog's purpose has shifted with our lives which have undergone, not surprisingly, a lot of change.
It is in part a repository of our memories, an outlet for Ed's photography (not good, but enthusiastic), a collection of recipes that Ed has developed, a record of the places we have visited, a journal of our hikes, and more. It is perhaps most of all a therapeutic outlet in that putting metaphorical ink to paper is how Ed relaxes and untwists his brain.
